Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh on Tuesday acknowledged an incident involving misbehaviour by Vibhav Kumar, the personal assistant of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, with party leader Swati Maliwal.
Singh condemned the incident and reported that Chief Minister Kejriwal has ordered strict action in the case. Maliwal has already reported the incident to the Delhi Police and the Chief Minister has taken the matter seriously, directing appropriate measures to address it.
Addressing a press conference, Singh stated, “CM Kejriwal has taken the matter seriously and has directed to take strict action in the incident.”
Singh added that the incident took place on Monday when Maliwal went to meet the CM after he came out of jail on bail..
Swati Maliwal, a senior AAP leader and a member of the Rajya Sabha, went to the Civil Lines police station on Monday morning and claimed she was assaulted by Kejriwal’s personal assistant, Vibhav Kumar. However, she didn’t lodge an official complaint.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) House was adjourned without any discussion following a ruckus by councillors of the BJP over the issue of the alleged assault of Maliwal and the demands for the appointment of a ‘Dalit’ Mayor. The BJP councillors also raised slogans against the Delhi CM while holding placards.
Vibhav Kumar was recently in headlines after the Delhi vigilance department sacked him from the position of Kejriwal’s personal secretary, citing “illegal appointment” in April this year.
He was sacked in connection to a 2007 case against him for “assault and use of criminal force to obstruct a public servant from doing his duty”. In February, meanwhile, he was also summoned by the ED in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.
