Kartikeya Sharma, founder of iTV Network, on Tuesday took oath as the newly elected member of the Rajya Sabha, vowing to work for youth and the state of Haryana.

Debutant Mr Sharma defeated Congress candidate Ajay Maken in a nail-biting contest recently. He was elected from his home state, Haryana.

After taking the oath Mr Sharma told the reporters he would try his best to fulfil the aspirations of the people of Haryana, especially of the youth and deprived sections.

He said his priority would also be working on four areas-sports, education, health and skill development.

“These are the areas which need huge attention. And it would be my utmost pleasure if I can contribute to the areas that would help the state and its people immensely,” said Mr Sharma.

Elaborating the need of Haryana, Mr Sharma said that there are several issues in Haryana that still remained unaddressed by political parties. “I want to pursue those issues vigorously to help the people and their aspirations”, asserted Mr Sharma.
