Former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai stated on Friday that the Karnataka government must be strong on the issue and cease sharing water with Tamil Nadu.

Bommai noted the water crisis in Karnataka and stated that Tamil Nadu’s excessive consumption of water should be clarified at the Supreme Court.

“There is any hardly water in the backwaters of Cauvery…I think the govt has to be very firm, stop the water and see that they convince the Supreme Court and explain the pathetic condition of Karnataka and the excess use of water by Tamil Nadu,” said Bommai.

Previously, Bommai claimed that the state administration lacked expertise in Cauvery Water Management.

While Karnataka’s Agriculture Minister, N. Chaluvarayaswamy, stated on Wednesday that no additional water can be provided to Tamil Nadu till the Supreme Court’s decision on September 21 because they (Karnataka) are already experiencing problems with drinking water and there is no water for crops.
