A deep probe has been ordered into the Mangaluru autorickshaw blast and the case is likely to be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Earlier on Saturday in Mangaluru city at around 5 pm, a low-intensity blast broke out in an autorickshaw in the Kankanadi police station area.

Meanwhile, the accused has been identified as Sharik and is admitted to the Father Muller Hospital in Karnataka’s Mangaluru after he sustained 40-45 percent burn injuries.

Moreover, on 19 November the Commissioner of Police (CP) of Mangaluru City N Shashi Kumar said that the auto driver and the passenger sustained burn injuries and they also have been admitted to the hospital.

However, to disrupt harmony in the area the bomb was implanted said Additional Director General of Police Alok Kumar after visiting the blast site.

“There was an attempt to disrupt harmony in the area,” the senior police official said.

Furthermore, the blast was of low intensity.

“It was a low-intensity IED explosion. There was an attempt to disrupt harmony in the area, and it was averted. Right now we’ve no info to suggest this blast related to the Coimbatore blast,” Kumar added.
