A jilted lover was arrested by Karnataka Police for allegedly killing three members of a family in Hosalingapura, Koppal district. The accused, identified as Asif from Hospet, reportedly murdered Vasantha, 28, her mother Rajeshwari, 50, and her son Sai Dharmatej, 5. The victims were found dead at their residence.
According to the police, Vasantha, originally from Andhra Pradesh, had separated from her husband and was living with her mother and son in Hosalingapura. She worked at a doll manufacturing factory and had married Arif, the brother of the accused, six months ago. Arif would occasionally visit the family.
Asif, who was previously in a relationship with Vasantha, allegedly could not accept her marriage to his brother. On Monday evening, he went to Vasantha’s residence and first killed Rajeshwari by suffocating her, followed by the murder of the child. Vasantha, who was at work at the time, was murdered upon her return home.
The police revealed, “Asif and Arif had a dispute in Hospet over the marriage. At one point, all three of them had worked together. Asif fled after committing the murders but was later apprehended. He is now in judicial custody.”
The discovery of the bodies was made by Vasantha’s younger sister, who became concerned after receiving no response to her phone call on Monday. Upon visiting the residence on Tuesday morning, she found Rajeshwari and Sai Dharmatej’s bodies in the bedroom and Vasantha’s body in the kitchen.
