Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Kargil to mark the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. He visited the Kargil War Memorial this morning to honor the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the 1999 conflict.

Security arrangements have been carefully planned for PM Modi’s visit to the Kargil War Memorial in Dras. President Droupadi Murmu and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh have also paid tribute to the fallen soldiers on this significant day.

President Murmu expressed her respect on X, saying, “Kargil Vijay Diwas is a time for our nation to honor the incredible courage and valor of our armed forces. I pay tribute to each soldier who sacrificed their life to protect India in 1999 and honor their memory.”

After paying his respects, PM Modi will virtually inaugurate the first blast for the Shinkun La Tunnel Project. This project will create a 4.1 km long twin-tube tunnel at about 15,800 feet above sea level on the Nimu-Padum-Darcha Road. Once it is completed, the Shinkun La Tunnel will be the highest in the world. It will enhance the movement of armed forces and equipment and support the economic and social development of Ladakh.
