Kane Williamson, a New Zealand batter, left the Gujarat Titans (GT) camp on Sunday, effectively ending his participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

Kane Williamson of the Gujarat Titans has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after suffering a knee injury in the IPL season opener against Chennai Super Kings on Friday at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the franchise announced on Sunday. Kane was seen in a car leaving the camp, according to the franchise’s official Twitter account.

In a video Williamson was heard saying to his fans, “Sad to be leaving so soon. I will miss the camp for sure. See you soon.” Meanwhile, GT took to their official Twitter handle and wrote, “See you soon, Kane! Speedy recovery, #AavaDe.”

In a tweet, Gujarat Titans said, “We regret to announce, Kane Williamson has been ruled out of the TATA IPL 2023, after sustaining an injury in the season opener against Chennai Super Kings.” We wish our Titan a speedy recovery and hope to see him soon.”

“It’s unfortunate that Kane was injured so early in the tournament.” “We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in action soon,” said Vikram Solanki in a press release.

Williamson will now return to New Zealand for further evaluation. The Gujarat Titans will finalise a replacement for the right-handed batter and make an announcement as soon as possible.

During the game, Williamson attempted to stop the ball from crossing the boundary for a six. He landed awkwardly on the ground, and it was clear that he had hurt himself in the process.

He was forced off the pitch, and Sai Sudarshan took his place as the game’s impact player. Gujarat Titans went on to defeat Chennai Super Kings and win their first IPL match by 5 wickets.

GT paid Rs 2 crore for Kane Williamson in the IPL 2023 auction last year. From his debut year in 2015 to 2022, he represented Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. In 77 IPL matches, he has scored 2,101 runs at an average of 36.22. In his career, he has eighteen fifties, with the highest score of 89.
