Ajay Bhutoria, National Finance Committee member for Kamala Harris’ campaign, expressed optimism about Harris’ momentum in the presidential race, with strong support from diverse communities across the United States. With just three days until the election, Bhutoria highlighted the enthusiasm, particularly in battleground states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Philadelphia, where grassroots volunteers are knocking on 2,000 doors every minute.

Bhutoria noted the Biden-Harris administration’s achievements in strengthening the US-India partnership in defense, healthcare, innovation, and semiconductors. He emphasized that various communities, including African Americans, women, small business owners, Republicans, and Indian-Americans, are rallying behind Harris. Key issues drawing Indian-American support include immigration, green card backlogs, healthcare reform, and economic opportunities.

He added that early investments by the Democratic Party in mobilizing grassroots support have been critical, with over 400 offices opened in key states. Despite Harris potentially becoming the first Indian-American president, a Carnegie Endowment survey suggests she may receive fewer votes from this community compared to Biden in 2020.

The US presidential election is set for November 5, with Harris competing against Republican candidate Donald Trump.
