Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, her newly chosen running mate for the upcoming presidential elections in US, made their debut as a ticket on Tuesday. They have held their first ever joint rally at the Temple University’s Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, marking it as an energetic and successful first rally for them as Democratic representatives, by CNN.

Walz, who is also the chair of the Democratic Governors Association, previously served 12 years in Congress and is a second-term governor. The campaign has seen a significant boost, raising over $10 million since Walz’s VP selection was announced, which Harris campaign spokesperson Lauren Hitt called “one of the campaign’s best fundraising days this cycle.”

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, a former VP candidate contender, showed strong support for Harris and Walz, praising Walz’s credentials and character. “Tim Walz is a great man, an outstanding governor, a teacher, a Guardsman, a great patriot, and a dear friend,” Shapiro said.

On social media, Harris expressed pride in selecting Walz as her running mate, noting his service and dedication. “I am proud to announce that I’ve asked Tim Walz to be my running mate. As a governor, a coach, a teacher, and a veteran, he’s delivered for working families like his. It’s great to have him on the team. Now let’s get to work,” Harris posted on X. Walz called his selection “the honor of a lifetime,” reflecting on the campaign’s promising start.

This rally follows President Joe Biden’s exit from the presidential race amid concerns about his age and debate performance.

Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump has announced JD Vance as his running mate, positioning himself for a comeback with Vance, the author of “Hillbilly Elegy.”
