‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has achieved remarkable success in its 20-day run at the Indian box office, amassing a staggering Rs 589.1 crore. Starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan, the film has already cemented its position as the biggest Indian movie of 2024. As it enters its fourth week in theaters, ‘Kalki’ is poised to break even more records before its digital release in about six weeks.

Currently standing at around Rs 560 crore nett after its third Tuesday’s business, ‘Kalki’ is on track to become the fourth-highest-grossing Indian film domestically, surpassing the lifetime collections of ‘Jawan’. While there have been rumors about its OTT premiere, reports suggest that ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ will debut online after a 10-week theatrical run. This strategy allows the film to capitalize on its box office momentum and extend its theatrical presence.

The film’s box office performance has been particularly strong in the Telugu market, with significant contributions from Hindi-speaking regions as well. However, the upcoming release of ‘Bad Newz’, starring Vicky Kaushal and Triptii Dimri, poses potential competition. Depending on the reception of ‘Bad Newz’, it could impact ‘Kalki’s business in the Hindi market.

Looking ahead, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ aims to surpass the overall domestic earnings of ‘RRR’, which collected Rs 782.2 crore nett. If it maintains its current pace, ‘Kalki’ could potentially secure its place as the third highest-grossing Indian film of all time. The film’s journey from here will be closely watched as it navigates through the competitive landscape of Indian cinema, setting new benchmarks along the way.
