The Telangana government of K Chandrashekar Rao has come under fire from the Bharatiya Janata Party for arresting the leader of its state unit president, Bandi Sanjay. JP Nadda, the national president of the BJP, stated that he disapproves of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government’s actions.

Nadda stated that the BJP would battle the TRS and KCR in the state democratically.

“I strongly condemn the illegal arrest of BJP Telangana state president Bandi Sanjay by the TRS government. KCR is worried seeing the massive support that the BJP is receiving from all corners of the state against his corrupt and family-centric regime,” Nadda said. “We’ll fight democratically and ensure that in the coming elections, TRS and KCR will be wiped out,” he added.

Sanjay was detained earlier by the Telangana Police, who also prevented him from trying to sit in a demonstration. The police action against his party members on Monday prompted the president of the Telangana BJP to stage a sit-in protest in the Jangaon district.

As BJP activists sought to thwart the police’s attempts to arrest Sanjay, tense situations were witnessed. However, the police, who were there in large numbers, managed to remove the BJP leader despite an attempt by his supporters to obstruct the path at various spots.

It should be noted that the BJP in Telangana has been hammering TRS politician and CM’s daughter K Kavita in recent days over her suspected role in the Delhi excise policy controversy that resulted in a CBI raid on Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia’s offices.

Following their protest outside Kavita’s home on Monday, numerous BJP members were charged under a number of different sections of the law. On Tuesday, Sanjay declared his demonstration in opposition to the police intervention.

Kavita had, in the meantime, denied the accusations made against her and threatened to sue BJP officials over this.
