There was an assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump during a Pennsylvania rally on 13 July 2024. While US presidents have gone down in history as having been targets of assassination—with John F. Kennedy being the most infamous—this one was very different: nowadays, everything occurs in real-time. As such, it has taken on a life of its own beyond the circles of political supporters.

The event has been the most talked-about thing. What is most surprising is that an anime of Trump getting assassinated was created and inspired by the popular anime series from Japan, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.

In the video, Trump summons a “stand,” or a spiritual manifestation of his soul, to block the gunshots from the would-be assassin, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. The concept, inspired by JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure where characters can use their “stands” for various activities and fights.

It also parodies this rather quite famous shot taken by Associated Press photographer Evan Vucci, wherein Trump is clearly riddled with cuts and bruises, raising a fist in front of an American flag and surrounded by Secret Service.

The video was shared on microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter) and has amassed over 7 million views.

A user commented, “It’s very JoJo-style. The idea is excellent.”

Another user complimented the quick turnaround of the video, stating, “The animator’s work is impressively swift.”

A third stated, “I love JoJo Music Anime Douga.”

In Stardust Crusaders, the third part of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Jotaro Kujo showcases his stand’s power by deliberately shooting himself in the head. His stand, Star Platinum, swiftly intercepts the bullet as it enters his skull.
