US President Joe Biden reiterated his country’s unwavering support for Israel following Iran’s threat of retaliation over the recent strike on the Iranian embassy in Syria. Speaking at a press conference alongside Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, Biden emphasized, “As I told Prime Minister Netanyahu, our commitment to Israel’s security against these threats from Iran and its proxies is ironclad. Let me say it again: ironclad. We’re going to do all we can to protect Israel’s security.”

Addressing the Oval Office meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu, Biden highlighted discussions on the Iranian threat and the need to address it. He reiterated their joint efforts towards a ceasefire and a potential hostage deal, with a focus on humanitarian aid for Gaza. Biden urged Israel to agree to a ceasefire and allow unrestricted access for food and medicine for the next six to eight weeks.

Regarding his talks with Netanyahu, Biden stressed his direct and frank approach, stating, “About my discussions with Netanyahu, as well as our relationship with Israel, I have been very blunt and straightforward with the Prime Minister, as well as his War Cabinet, as well as the Cabinet.”
