In a decisive action, the district police of Anantnag, in collaboration with the concerned Executive Magistrate, took steps to attach the residential property of a terrorist associate in Kokernag, situated in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, as per officials’ reports on Thursday.
According to a statement from the police spokesman, the residential property under scrutiny belongs to Ab Salam Rather, son of Mohd Ramzan Rather, located at Tangpawa Kokernag. The attachment is connected to Case FIR No. 170/2022, which involves sections 307 IPC, 7/25 I A Act, and 16, 18, 19, 20, 23, 38, 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UA(P) Act), registered at Police Station Kokernag.

Upon investigating the aforementioned case, authorities discovered that Zahoor Ahmad Rather, son of Ab Salam Rather and resident of Tangpawa Kokernag, was functioning as a terrorist associate (OGW). He was found to be providing crucial support, including food, shelter, and logistical aid, to the deceased terrorists identified as Asif Reshi alias Khubaib and Wakeel Ahmad Bhat alias Talha, at his residential house. This association falls within the definition of “Proceeds of terrorism” under section 2(g) read with section 25 of the UA(P) Act 1967.
