In response to recent surges in terror attacks, the Jammu and Kashmir police have set up 19 specialized counter-terror units across eight districts in the Jammu province.

According to officials, each unit will be led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) and will be permanently stationed within the designated districts. These units are tasked with conducting counter-terrorism operations while also managing routine law and order responsibilities, as reported by news agency KDC.

The districts chosen for these units include Udhampur, Kathua, Reasi, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri, and Poonch. Specific police stations and posts within these districts have been designated for each unit to ensure comprehensive coverage.

The primary focus of these units will be the Pir Panjal region and the Chenab Valley, areas that have experienced a recent increase in terror incidents. The units will collaborate with other security agencies to enhance operational effectiveness.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police are optimistic that, with the latest resources and training, these new units will play a crucial role in reducing militant activities and restoring peace to these regions, officials added.
