The Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir, R.R. Swain, addressed the media on Tuesday, providing insights into the security situation in the region. Swain acknowledged significant strides in maintaining law and order, even as challenges persist from terrorists infiltrating from Pakistan.
Commending the efficacy of law enforcement measures, Swain highlighted the positive impact on the overall security landscape. While acknowledging the ongoing stability, he underscored the challenges posed by a limited number of terrorists attempting to disrupt the hard-earned peace in the region.
In a reassuring note, Swain emphasized that the local youth are not aligned with these disruptive elements. “Our youth are not involved with them. While a few individuals may support these terrorists, the majority stand against them, indicating that the situation is under control,” affirmed the DGP.
Swain’s remarks were delivered during the second Rural Outreach event, a vital component of the Public Grievance Redressal Programme, conducted in South Kashmir. The event provided a platform for residents to voice diverse concerns, ranging from instances of cheating to land grabbing.
Assuring swift and lawful action in response to the raised issues, Swain highlighted the police force’s commitment to address a spectrum of concerns beyond traditional security matters. “This is the first time we’re reaching out in South Kashmir,” stated Swain, emphasizing the significance of the outreach program. He underscored collaborative efforts aimed at fostering peace in the Rajouri-Poonch belt, reflecting a dedicated approach to creating a peaceful environment in the region. Expressing optimism about the region’s future, Swain stated, “We believe that there will be a time when Jammu and Kashmir will be peaceful, and people will capture those attempting to disrupt the peace, handing them over to us.” The comments encapsulate ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the people in Jammu and Kashmir amidst security challenges.
