Ravinder Raina emphasized the historic significance of the Supreme Court’s ruling, stating that various communities, including Tribals, Gujjars, Bakkerwals, Gaddi-Sippi, and others, had endured 70 years of suffering due to the provisions of Article 370. He highlighted the positive impact of the decision on marginalized groups, such as OBCs, West Pakistan Refugees, and residents of PoJK, who have now gained their rightful citizenship and basic rights.
Speaking on the transformations brought about by the removal of Article 370, Raina pointed out the extension of crucial constitutional provisions to J&K, including anti-corruption laws, NHRC jurisdiction, and the right to education. He commended the progress in Panchayati Raj Sashaktikaran, DDC, and BDC elections.
Raina expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Home Minister Amit Shah for granting fundamental rights to every resident of J&K. He emphasized the importance of democracy and the supremacy of the judiciary, applauding the decision as a step towards the welfare of the 1.4 crore people of J&K.
Acknowledging the government’s readiness for assembly elections, Raina urged political parties to refrain from using Article 370 as a divisive tool.
