The Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party has announced its candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, with Zaffar Iqbal Manhas set to contest from the Anantnag-Rajouri constituency and Mohammad Ashraf Mir to represent the party in Srinagar.
Dilawar Mir, Chairman of the Parliamentary Affairs Committee, disclosed the party’s decision during a press conference held in Srinagar. According to reports from the news agency Kashmir Scroll (KS), Mir affirmed the party’s commitment to fielding candidates who can effectively address the concerns and aspirations of the electorate.
The move comes in the wake of recent announcements by other political entities, with the National Conference nominating Mian Altaf and the Democratic People’s Alliance Party (DPAP) putting forth Ghulam Nabi Azad as their respective candidates for the Anantnag-Rajouri seat.
Of note, the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party’s decision to field a candidate for the Srinagar seat marks a significant development, distinguishing it as the first political party to declare its candidacy for this constituency. As preparations for the Lok Sabha polls gain momentum, the unveiling of candidates by various political parties sets the stage for a competitive electoral contest, with each party vying to secure representation for its constituents in Parliament.
