An encounter took place on Wednesday night in the Sopore area of ​​Baramulla district where security forces killed two terrorists.

According to the police, the slain belonged to the banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). Police said that both the slain terrorists were associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed. They were planning to attack civilians in Sopore.

Meanwhile, police said that following information about the presence of terrorists, security forces launched a search operation by the army, police, and CRPF personnel by cordoning off the possible hideout. After this, the encounter between terrorists and security forces started in the Bomai area of ​​Sopore city on Wednesday night. A civilian was also injured in the firing.

Police said that the person who was injured in the exchange of fire from both sides has been identified as Ali Mohammad Gainei, a resident of Bomai. He has been sent to Srinagar hospital, where his condition is stable. Security forces are still cordoning off the entire area.

Taking to Twitter ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said,”Killed JeM terrorists were categorized & identified as Mohd Rafi of Sopore & Kaiser Ashraf of Pulwama. Terrorist Rafi was earlier booked under PSA twice. Both were involved in several terror crime cases. As per input they were planning to attack civilians in Sopore area.”

Moreover, seeing themselves surrounded in Bomai, Baramulla, the terrorists started firing on the security forces. Although the security forces gave terrorists the opportunity to surrender, the terrorists ignored them and continued firing. In view of the situation, the security forces also retaliated. During this, two terrorists were killed one by one.

Earlier on Tuesday, the encounter took place in the Shopian district of South Kashmir. During this, the security forces killed three terrorists of the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. All three terrorists were local.
