The predetermined limit of reservation for OBC and other categories will not be increased in Jharkhand. Governor CP Krishnan has returned the bill related to increasing the limit of reservation for OBC and other categories in Jharkhand to the state government.
The Hemant Soren government had increased the OBC quota from 14% to 27% and the Scheduled Caste quota from 26% to 28% and the Scheduled Caste quota from 10% to 12% had been passed by the assembly.
On this, Rakesh Sinha spokesperson of the Congress party, the supporting party of the present state government, believes that the return of the bill indicates that the Bharatiya Janata Party is only doing a trick for the OBCs. BJP does not want that 27% reservation should be given to OBCs in the state. This is the reason that this bill is withdrawn through the constitutional manner, the OBC class is used for its vote bank by the BJP.
Pradeep Sinha spokesperson of the state’s opposition party BJP says that the withdrawal of the reservation bill by the governor has been done for due consideration of law after the advice of the Attorney General of India. If the state government is adamant on ignoring the advice of the Advocate General of its law department, then the same fate is going to befall every MLA. The state government should think with a cool head that if the guidelines of the Supreme Court on OBC reservation are not followed, then the legislators definitely cannot pass the bill.
