Jenna Mirza Mattison, known for her work as an actor, screenwriter, and director, is set to pen the feature adaptation of Anita Moorjani’s bestselling memoir, ‘Dying to Be Me,’ Deadline reported. The memoir, published by Hay House Inc. in September 2014, recounts Moorjani’s remarkable journey from battling deadly cancer to experiencing a near-death encounter that led to her miraculous healing.

Moorjani’s story details her struggle with cancer, which had spread throughout her body, causing her organs to deteriorate. However, following her near-death experience, Moorjani’s health rapidly improved, leading to her discharge from the hospital with no trace of cancer.

The film adaptation of ‘Dying to Be Me’ has been in development since 2020, with Mark and Christine Holder of Wonderstreet, along with producers Liat Gerszt, Colet Abedi, Jasmine Abedi, and Brian Zagorski of Sylvirgale Productions and 04 Entertainment.

Mattison, who has previously adapted works by authors like James Patterson and Sophie Kinsella, is currently working on another adaptation based on a novella by Bird Box author Josh Malerman. Her previous films have been distributed by major studios such as MGM, Samuel Goldwyn, Sony, and Lionsgate.
