Jeff Bezos and his girlfriend Lauren Sanchez recently made a visit to the restaurant run by celebrated chef Vikas Khanna, Bungalow, in New York to have authentic Indian food. The Amazon founder described it as a “pilgrimage,” and according to Khanna, the latter was over the moon. Posting a picture of Bezos and Sanchez on X, Khanna said, “When [Jeff Bezos] said the visit to Bungalow was like a pilgrimage.” It filled my heart with pure joy & pride. #PowerOfAuthenticity #SoftPowerOfIndia.”
Khanna also shared an extensive list of dishes that he served to Bezos and Sanchez, in which Indian flavors can be seen at its best. Bengali Kasundi Tandoori Avocado, Bihari Sattu Roti, Udipi’s Annanas Menaskai, Gujarati Tindora Pickle, Nagaland’s Black Rice Pudding, Odisha’s Guguni Chaat, Indore-inspired Dahi Kebab, Dogra-style Chicken Anarkali, Jewish-Indian Chicken Chitranee, Sindhi Achari Aloo, Gulab Jamun Ice-Cream with Millet-Chocolate Cake and Ahmedabad ki Saunf were a few. In a post, Khanna wrote, “A taste of India for @JeffBezos.”

This visit comes just days after another major spotlight moment for Khanna. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan dined at Bungalow. Khanna wrote a heartfelt message about SRK, revealing how deep an impact the actor had made on his life. “My life revolves around 3 people – BK SK SRK. My Maa, Sanjeev Kapoor & The King,” Khanna shared emotionally. He narrated how the actor’s films and personality inspired him. “When SRK visited Bungalow & asked me to sit with him… he became my hero for who he is. His voice. His patience. His confidence. His compassion. His friendship,” Khanna said, posting the thanks for the never-to-be-forgotten moment.
Bungalow, launched a few months ago, has, in its wake, become the hot destination in New York City for the quintessence and true Indian dish. And, it also grabbed the much coveted Michelin 2024 Bib Gourmand Award, thereby making this restaurant the absolute destination on the list.
