Manoj Jarange Patil, who has been on hunger strike for 12 days demanding Maratha reservation in Maharashtra, has ruined the hard work of CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis throughout the night. To resolve this issue, the CM along with the delegation from Jarange brainstormed at Sahyadri Guest House till late Friday night. During this, CM Shinde and Deputy CM Fadnavis assured that their government is serious about Maratha reservation. Our government will strongly raise this issue in the Supreme Court.
He has also tried to give Kunbi certificates to the Maratha community in Marathwada as per the GR of the government. After this meeting the delegation went back to Jalna and met Patil. Also, on behalf of the government, Arjun Khotkar handed over the copy of the new GR to Jarange. But after reading the government order, Patil has refused to end his agitation. He has said that no changes have been made in the new GR. Unless the State Government in its GR. If the government does not make any changes, their movement will continue, he said.
What is the government’s GR?
To give reservation to the people of Maratha community in Marathwada, the state government has issued a GR on September 7 and announced to provide Kunbi certificate. But Kunbi caste certificates will be given only to those who have Nizam-era documents like revenue, education and the like. Whereas “Kunbi” should be mentioned in other supporting records and genealogy. The government has also constituted a committee under the chairmanship of a retired judge to review this criteria.

Why demand for Maratha Movement?
■ Kunbi certificate should be given to all Marathas, which will help them in getting reservation under OBC category.
■ The policemen who brutally lathi-charged the fasting workers and villagers should be dismissed from government service. Just sending them on compulsory leave will not work.
■ Withdraw the cases registered against our workers and the community.
■ Government is running pillar to post but all the efforts are turning out to be futile.
