Toco, a Japanese man who made headlines after spending $14,000 to transform himself into a dog, now sets his sights on adopting the forms of other animals. Chronicling his metamorphosis into a border collie on his YouTube channel ‘I want to be an animal,’ Toco expressed a childhood dream of exploring the world as a dog.

In a recent interview with a Japanese news outlet, Toco revealed his aspirations to embrace a new animal identity. While he harbours a desire to try out four different creatures, logistical constraints may impede two of his choices.

“Dogs and humans have different bone structures and movement patterns, making it challenging to emulate canine behaviour,” Toco explained to WanQol. “I’m currently researching ways to replicate dog-like movements. Additionally, the maintenance involved in keeping a dog’s fur clean poses its own challenges.”

Toco remains undeterred, expressing an interest in transforming into a panda, bear, fox, or cat in the future. Reflecting on his decision to become a collie, he noted his fondness for quadrupedal animals, particularly those with long, flowing fur like the collie.

Receiving positive feedback from viewers, Toco finds solace in knowing that others resonate with his journey. While some may view him as a curiosity, psychologists suggest that Toco may identify as a Therian, distinct from Furries who engage in animal-themed cosplay.

As Toco continues to navigate his unconventional path, his journey prompts reflection on identity and the boundaries between human and animal realms.
