Nintendo Switch 2 Breaks Records with 3.5M Sales in Four Days, Here’s Why

The Nintendo Switch 2 sales record has sent shockwaves through the gaming world, with over 3.5 million units sold globally within just four days of its release. This incredible launch solidified the console’s status as Nintendo’s fastest-selling device ever, surpassing the first Switch and setting the framework for a record-breaking gaming year ahead.

Nintendo’s Latest Console Sets Global Sales Record

Just four days after its June 5 release, Nintendo announced that over 3.5 million Switch 2 consoles have flown off shelves. Consequently, the Japanese gaming giant now holds the title for its quickest console rollout, surpassing even the original Switch, which amassed over 152 million lifetime sales. Company forecasts expect Switch 2 sales to hit 15 million before the fiscal year ends in March.

Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s President and COO, said, “Fans around the world are showing their enthusiasm for Nintendo Switch 2 as an upgraded way to play at home and on the go.”

The upgraded console brings together fan-favourite titles such as Mario Kart World and classics like The Legend of Zelda, offering a new, immersive experience for both longtime fans and new adopters.

High Demand and New Features Drive Nintendo Switch 2 Buzz

In addition to bringing back nostalgic feelings for fans, the Switch 2 also comes with many significant hardware upgrades. The 7.9-inch full HD touchscreen now supports HDR10 and a 120Hz refresh rate, giving players smoother and sharper graphics. Internally, the console offers 256GB of fast UFS storage, expandable to 2TB via microSD Express.

Retailing at $449.99 (approx. ₹38,600), with a Mario Kart World edition available for $499.99 (approx. ₹42,900), the console is flying off shelves in Japan, the US, and beyond. Not only that, but it can display games at up to 4K and 60 frames per second (or a blazing 120 frames per second at lesser resolutions) when connected to a TV.

With high specs, popular game bundles, and a hybrid home-portable design, the Nintendo Switch 2 has struck the right chord with today’s gamers.
