Mizuki had been reportedly struggling with mental health problems since 2023. His family announced that he had gone missing earlier this year because of the struggles. After an extensive search, the Tokyo Police confirmed that his body had been found in the city.
The complete statement issued by his family explained, “Since the end of January, Mizuki had been missing due to struggles with mental health issues he had been dealing with since last year. The police and others continued the search, and just recently, we were contacted by the Tokyo police that his body had been found in the city.”
They went on, “Mizuki always worked hard with the hope of bringing smiles and joy to everyone through his acting. He had just started taking steps toward returning to work, so it’s heartbreaking that his life ended like this, something even he probably never expected.”

Mizuki Itagaki started his profession at the tender age of 10 under Stardust Promotion. He rose to fame as a member of the J-pop group M!LK, during which he was active from 2014 to 2020. At the same time, he started establishing himself in acting as well, with appearances on TV dramas and movies such as Hana Moyu (2015), Solomon’s Perjury (2015), and In-house Marriage Honey (2020).
In March 2024, Mizuki terminated his contract with Stardust Promotion and officially shut down his fan club. His family reported that he had been getting ready to go back to work, so the unexpected loss was all the more heartbreaking.
