Andhra Chief Minister Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy has reacted strongly over reports of private hospital in the state overcharging Covid-19 patients. On Tuesday he warned that severe action would be taken against hospitals which were charging more than the government-stipulated charges.

Presiding over a programme, along with district collectors and SPs, the CM said that efforts should be made to look after the Covid-19 patients on humanitarian grounds. He said he was satisfied with the number of tests conducted.

The sooner the Covid-19 cases were identified it was better the patients could be sent home for quarantine he said and added, “The collectors should speed up the identification process. Collectors should have complete scrutiny over the Covid-19 hospitals so that testing is done on time and beds are provided within half an hour.

Priority should be given to the appointment of doctors and nurses in the Covid-19 hospitals and ensure that they are not under-staffed.”

Jagan said that all the Covid-19 hospitals should be fully equipped with oxygen supply and other equipment for the treatment of patients and accordingly the hospitals should be given ratings.
