Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy flagged off a massive fleet of 9,260 mobile dispensing units to deliver ration with better quality, sortexed swarna variety medium slender rice which will be distributed in a new phase of public distribution system (PDS) from February 1. This initiative taken by CM Jagan is to ensure that the elderly, differently-abled and daily wage workers get their monthly ration on time. The CM promised that he would address these issues effectively during his padayatra.

Andhra Pradesh is the first state in the country to launch door-to-door delivery of rice. This move will help 1.4 crore families in getting ration at their door step. The government will be spending an additional amount of Rs 830 crore per year to enable door-delivery of essential ration across the state. The government spent Rs 539 crore to procure 9,260 MDU vehicles.

In this first-of-its-kind initiative taken by CM Jagan, the AP government will support the unemployed in providing livelihood to 9,260 unemployed youth under SC/ST/BC/EBC and minority communities The CM has assured transparency through the use of bio-metrics and continuous social audit as the ration is delivered in public presence, thereby putting an end to black marketing. The rice bags would be packed with tamper-proof seal.
