The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) announced a major assault on Hezbollah and Hamas on Friday. Israeli airstrikes hits Hezbollah and Hamas Targets. IDF airstrikes targeted more than 200 Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon. At the same time, troops attacked Hamas fighters regrouping in northern Gaza.
IDF Eliminates Hezbollah Commander
IDF forces killed Abbas Adnan Moslem, a Hezbollah commander in southern Lebanon. Moslem led the Radwan unit in Aitaroun and had planned multiple attacks on Israeli communities. Troops also spotted a Hezbollah squad setting up an ambush. They seized a Russian-made Kornet missile launcher and dismantled it.
Ongoing Operations in Gaza
In northern Gaza’s Jabaliya, Israeli forces killed dozens of Hamas fighters. They seized weapons and dismantled terrorist infrastructure. During the operations, IDF identified and neutralized a rigged vehicle and nearby Hamas militants. Similar strikes in central and southern Gaza killed more militants and destroyed Hamas assets.
Hezbollah Continues Attacks on Israel
Since Hamas’s October 7 attacks, Hezbollah has launched daily rockets and drones at Israeli towns in the north. Over 68,000 Israelis remain displaced due to the threat. Despite a UN ban on Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, the group has vowed to keep up attacks, aiming to keep Israelis from returning home.
Background on October 7 Attacks
Hamas attacked Israeli communities near Gaza on October 7, killing over 1,200 people and taking 252 hostages. Among the 97 still held, more than 30 are now presumed dead. Hamas has also detained two Israelis since 2014 and holds the remains of two soldiers killed the same year.
