An Islamabad district and sessions court on Thursday rejected jailed Pakistan PM Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi’s pleas to suspend their sentences in the Iddat case, reported Pakistan’s Geo English. The couple was sentenced to seven years in prison in February after the court found their nikah (marriage) to be fraudulent. The case came to light after Bibi’s former husband, Khawar Maneka, approached the court against the couple’s marriage.

It is pertinent to note that Khan was ousted from power in August 2023. Khan, who also heads the Pakistan three-E-Insaaf (PTI), has been incarcerated since then. The 71-year-old is currently buried under an avalanche of nearly 200 cases.
