Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian is set to attend the upcoming BRICS summit in Russia, state media reported on Sunday. The announcement comes as tensions escalate between Tehran and Western nations over military cooperation with Moscow.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently accused Iran of supplying ballistic missiles to Russia, which he said could be used in Ukraine within weeks, posing a threat to European security. In response, the US, Germany, Britain, and France imposed new sanctions on Iran, including measures targeting Iran Air.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi denied the missile transfer allegations and criticized the sanctions, stating they were not a solution.

Kazem Jalali, Iran’s ambassador to Russia, confirmed that Pezeshkian will attend the BRICS summit, scheduled from October 22-24 in Kazan, where he will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin. Additionally, the two countries are expected to sign a bilateral comprehensive cooperation agreement during the summit.
