Here are the names of some IPS officers who tragically ended their own lives.

Shiladitya Chetia

A 44-year-old DIG-rank IPS officer from the 2009 batch was serving as Secretary, Home and Political with the Assam government. Shortly after his wife lost her battle against cancer and was declared dead at a hospital in Guwahati, senior IPS officer Shiladitya Chetia took his own life with his service weapon on 18 June 2024.

Himanshu Roy

Himanshu Roy, former chief of Maharashtra anti-terrorism squad (ATS) and an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, has committed suicide at his official residence in Mumbai due to extreme depression, as stated by local police on 11 May 2018.

C Vijayakumar

IPS officer C Vijayakumar died by suicide on Friday, July 7 2023, reportedly using his service revolver. Several news reports confirmed the incident. Vijayakumar, who belonged to the 2009 batch, assumed the role of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police for the Coimbatore Circle in January 2023.
