Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis was fined Rs 12 lakh for IPL’s Code of Conduct breach after his team maintained a slow over-rate in their match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on Sunday.

On Monday, the Indian Premier League (IPL) disclosed that Du Plessis incurred a fine for his team’s slow-over rate during the match against KKR, marking RCB’s inaugural over-rate violation of the season. According to an IPL statement, “Faf du Plessis, leading Royal Challengers Bengaluru, has been fined following his team’s sluggish over-rate during Match 36 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 versus Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on April 21, 2024.”

The statement also clarified that Faf du Plessis received a fine of INR 12 Lac since it was his team’s inaugural violation of the IPL’s Code of Conduct regarding minimum over-rate infractions for the season.

In a scorching Sunday fixture, KKR and RCB engaged in yet another memorable clash in Kolkata, culminating in the home team clinching victory by a mere one run.

Ultimately, RCB suffered their sixth consecutive defeat of the season, finding themselves at the bottom of the points table.

Looking ahead, Bengaluru aims to reverse their fortunes as they face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday.
