IPL 2024: The Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) skipper has made headlines again for the wrong reasons. This time it originated after his team took a hammering from the mighty aggressive Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). After losing to SRH, questions speculated widely over his captaincy and batting.

In a match where SRH chased down 167 runs in less than 10 overs, LSG’s batsmen struggled big time to get going. However, KL Rahul’s inning was widely criticised as he scored 29 off 33 deliveries, not even at a run-a-ball pace.

KL Rahul and LSG’s Owner Sanjiv Goenka Viral Video

After the match, LSG’s owner Sanjiv Goenka and KL Rahul were seen having an agitated conversation which has now sourced fresh rumours. According to anonymous sources, it is believed that KL Rahul might voluntarily step down as LSG’s captain.

This has been a major issue with KL Rahul as his strike rate has been criticised over the years now. Even this season, he has scored more than 400 runs but his strike rate issue is the elephant in the room.

Will KL Rahul Be Retained Next Year?

The star batter was bought for a record 17 Cr in the 2022 season but it is widely believed that he might not be retained in next year’s edition.

Who Will Captain LSG If Not Rahul?

An IPL source told PTI, “There is a five-day gap before the next game against DC. As of now, no decision has been taken but it is understood that if Rahul plans to just concentrate on his batting for the remaining two games, the management won’t mind.”

With LSG virtually out of the tournament, we might see KL Rahul as a batsman in the next 2 games. Whereas Nicholas Pooran might captain the side.
