PBKS won the match against KKR by 8 wickets at the Eden Gardens.

IPL 2024: Another Run Fest in this year’s season saw the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) posting a score of 261 in their allotted 20 overs. Sunil Narine and Phil Salt were the main aggressors who scored at a strike rate of more than 200. It was followed by the cameos of Venkatesh Iyer, Andre Russell and Shreyas Iyer.

After KKR put up a daunting target of 262 for the Punjab Kings (PBKS), the game seemed over but Punjab had other ideas. Jonny Bairstow and Prabhsimran Singh smashed the KKR bowlers all around the ground. While Prabhsimran got run out, Bairstow went on to smash a century in just 45 balls. This assault meant Punjab needed just 61 off the last 5 overs.

The game was slightly tilted in favour of Punjab before the young sensation Shashank Singh came all guns blazing. Shashank went on to score 68 not out of just 28 balls with 2 fours and 8 sixes which meant Punjab won the game in just 18.4 overs. The match was certainly between the Kolkata and Punjab batters as bowlers took a heavy tonking.

A galore of records were broken including the most sixes in a T20 match ever and the highest score ever chased in a T20 match. The fans were treated with delight and cricket of the highest order. In the last two days, the bottom two teams, Bengaluru and Punjab have upset two of the best teams of this season. With so much action, the fans would want this year’s IPL to continue the same way which means a heavy challenge awaits the bowlers.
