Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Hardik Pandya has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate against Punjab Kings on Thursday at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.
“Mr. Pandya was fined Rs. 12 lakh because it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences,” an IPL media advisory said on Friday. The IPL aims for matches to last three hours and twenty minutes, but slow over rates have caused several games to last longer.
In the match, Shubman Gill’s 67-ball 67 powered Gujarat Titans to a 6-wicket win over Punjab Kings at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium on Thursday.
Gujarat’s highest scorer was Gill, with Wriddhiman Saha scoring 30 runs off 19 balls. Sam Curran, Harpreet Brar, Kagiso Rabada, and Arshdeep Singh all took one wicket for PBKS.
With this win, Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat have moved up to third place in the points table with three wins in four games, trailing only the Rajasthan Royals and the Lucknow Super Giants, who have a better run rate.
