MS Dhoni, the legendary India wicketkeeper-batsman, will lead Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the 200th time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) when they face Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday.
In the history of IPL, the most consistent skipper is Dhoni. So far, he has led CSK to 4 IPL titles in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021 editions. Although Mumbai Indians have won 5 IPL trophies, Dhoni led CSK to the final 4 stage of the tournament in 11 out of 13 editions of IPL, with the side finishing as runners-up on 5 occasions.
Dhoni has captained the Indian Premier League on 213 occasions, winning 125 matches, losing 87, and failing to produce a result in one. With a win percentage of 58.96, he is one of the most successful IPL captains in the long run.
He also had a one-season stint as captain with Rising Pune Supergiant, a team that existed in the IPL from 2016 to 2017. During his first season with the franchise, he won only five matches and lost nine out of fourteen, finishing seventh on the points table.
He has led CSK in 199 of 213 matches, winning 120, losing 78, and failing to produce a result in one. His win percentage with CSK as captain is 60.30%.
