His participation underscores the significance of yoga in promoting holistic health and spiritual well-being, a concept he proposed during his speech at the United Nations in September 2014. This annual celebration, observed on June 21, coincides with the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and holds cultural importance across diverse global regions.

PM Modi led the Common Yoga Protocol session in Srinagar, addressing a gathering and emphasizing yoga’s transformative impact on physical fitness and mental clarity. This year’s event focused on highlighting yoga’s profound influence, particularly among the youth, aiming to unite thousands worldwide in practicing yoga for enhanced health and wellness. The occasion served as a testament to yoga’s universal appeal and its role in fostering a balanced lifestyle amidst modern-day challenges.

Earlier, rain disrupted the scheduled outdoor event on the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, where PM Modi was scheduled to perform yoga. Despite this setback, PM Modi quickly adapted and relocated the celebrations to the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.
