Today, on the 10th International Yoga Day, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav took part in a special Yoga session at his official residence, CM House, in Bhopal. This event, organized at the state level, saw CM Yadav performing Yoga asanas alongside students and special guests.

In addition to the Yoga session, CM Yadav also launched the ‘Shri Anna Samvardhan Abhiyan,’ a campaign aimed at promoting the cultivation and consumption of millets. As part of this initiative, he encouraged everyone to support farmers by providing them with Kodo-Kutki seeds.

“Today marks a significant occasion,” CM Yadav shared on social media platform X. “Along with celebrating the 10th International Yoga Day, we have also launched the ‘Shri Anna Samvardhan Abhiyan.’ I urge everyone to contribute to the success of this campaign by gifting Kodo-Kutki seeds to our farmers.”

During his speech, CM Yadav reminisced about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pivotal role in bringing Yoga to the global stage. “Ten years ago, on this day, PM Modi proposed the idea of promoting health through Yoga at the United Nations, and it was warmly accepted. I extend my congratulations to PM Modi on this occasion,” he said.

CM Yadav emphasized the importance of physical fitness and a balanced diet. “While Yoga is essential for our health, our diet is equally important. We are fortunate to have ‘Shri Anna’ or millets, which are traditional crops of our country. Unlike wheat, which was introduced from abroad, millets like Jawar and Bajra have been a part of our ancient diet and are still used in traditional rituals,” he explained.

Looking forward, CM Yadav announced the opening of 11 new Ayurvedic colleges in Madhya Pradesh. These colleges aim to highlight the region’s rich forest resources and enhance the state’s role in the field of Ayurveda.

Yoga, a practice that unites the body and mind, has its roots in India. The term ‘yoga’ comes from Sanskrit, meaning ‘to join’ or ‘to unite.’ Since 2015, the International Day of Yoga has been celebrated annually on June 21, following its recognition by the United Nations in 2014. Across Madhya Pradesh, numerous Yoga events marked this year’s International Day of Yoga, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for this ancient practice.
