A new criminal code that will make having sex outside of marriage punishable by up to a year in jail for both citizens and foreign visitors was approved by the Indonesian parliament on Tuesday. According to the new rule, premarital cohabitation is punishable by six months in jail if reported to the authorities. The law also forbids blasphemy against religion and the promotion of contraception.
