Indian troops were seen engaging in a spirited game of “Tug of War” with Chinese soldiers stationed in Sudan, Africa, as part of their United Nations Peacekeeping mission. The video capturing this friendly competition has rapidly gained widespread attention on social media platforms.

Reportedly, Army officials have confirmed the authenticity of the viral video, which is said to depict a friendly league match on Monday.

In the widely circulated video released by news agency ANI, Indian troops are seen putting forth tremendous effort in the competition. At the same time, Chinese troops also strive to perform at their best. Ultimately, the Indian troops triumphed. The scene was charged with enthusiasm as Indian supporters passionately chanted “India, India…” while Chinese supporters cheered fervently for their team. The moment the first Chinese soldier crossed the finish line marked the victory for the Indian team.

Taking to X on Wednesday, the Indian Army wrote, “On the 76th anniversary of #UNPeacekeepersDay, #IndianArmy salutes the professionalism, dedication & courage of all Peacekeepers serving in UN Peacekeeping Missions and also pays tribute to those who have laid down their lives for the cause of peace.”

The United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) was established by the UN Security Council on March 24, 2005, following the Comprehensive Peace Agreement between the Sudanese government and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement on January 9, 2005.

UNMIS is responsible for aiding the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, performing specific duties related to humanitarian aid, protection, and human rights promotion, and offering support to the African Union Mission in Sudan.

Since 1948, more than two million uniformed and civilian personnel have helped countries move from conflict to peace. Currently, over 70,000 peacekeepers are deployed in 11 missions worldwide.
