In the UK’s visa statistics for the year ending September 2023, Indian skilled workers, medical professionals, and students continued to dominate, according to data from the Office for National Statistics collated by the UK Home Office. Indian nationals not only topped the Skilled Worker visa route but also the Health and Care Visa route.
In the student visa category, Indian nationals continued to be the largest group granted leave to remain on the post-study Graduate visa route, representing 43 percent of grants. The data also shows that while ‘Skilled Worker’ visas experienced a modest rise of 9 percent in the past year, ‘Skilled Worker—Health and Care’ visa grants more than doubled, increasing by 135 percent to 143,990.
The Health and Care visa figures indicate a 76 percent increase in Indian applicants, while the Skilled Worker route experienced a slight decline of 11 percent, decreasing from 20,360 visas in the year ending September 2022 to 18,107 in the year ending September 2023.
