Indian-origin student Akul Dhawan has tragically passed away due to freezing temperatures after being denied entry to a club in the US. The Champaign County Coroner’s Office revealed that Mr. Dhawan, found dead last month, succumbed to hypothermia exacerbated by “acute alcohol intoxication and prolonged exposure to freezing temperatures.”

On January 20, he went out for drinks with friends near the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus but was denied entry to a club. After going missing, his friend contacted campus police, and the next morning, he was discovered dead on the back porch of a building. The police believe his death was accidental, with no foul play involved.

Akul Dhawan, an 18-year-old freshman was studying robotics at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, had recently returned to college after the winter break.

He completed his high school education at Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo, California, and also studied Computer Science at the College of San Mateo.
