Members of the Indian community in Warsaw are eagerly anticipating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Poland from August 21-23. This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in 45 years, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of India-Poland diplomatic relations.

The Indian diaspora expressed excitement and praised PM Modi for his contributions to India’s development. Saurabh Gilitwala, a resident of Poland for seven years, noted the significance of this visit in strengthening ties between the two nations. Ajay Sharma, who moved to Poland in 2018, shared that many Indians across the country are planning to travel to Warsaw to witness this historic moment.

Gaurav Singh, President of the Indian Students Union, emphasized the community’s eagerness to see if PM Modi will address them during his visit. He hopes the visit will further improve cultural and business relations between India and Poland. Jenesh, another diaspora member, expressed optimism that the visit will boost trade and increase opportunities for both countries.

MEA Secretary (West) Tanmaya Lal called the visit “landmark,” highlighting Poland’s role in assisting India during the evacuation of students from Ukraine in 2022 and the historical ties dating back to World War II when Poland received refuge in India. During his visit, PM Modi will meet with Polish leaders, including President Andrzej Duda, and interact with the Indian community in Warsaw.
