‘You Know the Truth’: Pakistani Cricketer Asks Why Shehbaz Sharif Hasn’t Condemned Pahalgam Attack

Following the horrific terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 civilians, former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has gone on social media to question Islamabad and the silence of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The gruesome attack has evoked outrage across the world, with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah terming it “much larger than anything we’ve seen directed at civilians in recent years.”

Kaneria Target Shehbaz Sharif

Posting on X (ex-Twitter), Kaneria questioned, “If Pakistan truly has no role in the Pahalgam terror attack, why hasn’t Prime Minister @CMShehbaz condemned it yet?”

His comment comes amidst growing international condemnation and domestic calls for accountability by Pakistan’s leadership.

NIA Initiates Probe; Lashkar Commander Identified as Mastermind

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has formally opened an investigation into the attack. Indian security forces have made public sketches of suspected terrorists who carried out the attack and have named Saifullah Kasuri, a key Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander, as the suspected mastermind.

In the meantime, Kaneria took his criticism even further in a second tweet and target Shehbaz Sharif, writing, “Why are your forces suddenly on high alert? Because deep down, you know the truth — you’re sheltering and nurturing terrorists. Shame on you.”

Kaneria’s words have generated heated debate across channels, particularly following his posting of another provocative message, which questioned, “Why do some Indian Muslims get offended whenever I tweet something? Genuinely curious — just asking.”

India Vows Retaliation Against Perpetrators and Masterminds

In New Delhi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh issued a stern warning, vowing that India would act firmly in response to the attack. “Those responsible and behind such an act will very soon hear our response, loud and clear,” Singh said.

He further stated that India’s reaction would not be confined to the perpetrators on the ground. “We won’t just reach those people who carried out the attack. We will also reach out to those who planned this from behind the scenes on our land,” he said.

The attack has again brought demands for international action against terror groups based in Pakistan, with leaders calling for accountability and justice for the victims.
