Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took a swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, suggesting that he lacks knowledge of India’s history and geography.
“People who do not know the history and geography of India will definitely make such irrelevant comments,” said Chief Minister Adityanath in an interview with ANI. He criticized Gandhi for once referring to himself as an “accidental Hindu” and accused him of ignoring the atrocities committed by the Mughals in India.
Adityanath also criticized the Congress party for its stance on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), stating that this reveals the party’s true intentions to the nation and the world.
He emphasized that the CAA is not discriminatory and is intended to grant citizenship to persecuted minorities from neighboring countries. He questioned why the Congress is opposed to the CAA or is succumbing to pressure from those hostile to humanity.
Additionally, Adityanath highlighted the role of Congress workers and freedom fighters in securing independence for India and restoring democracy and the rule of law to the country.
Earlier, former Union Minister and Congress leader P Chidambaram had stated that if the INDIA bloc comes to power, it will repeal the CAA and three criminal laws enacted by the BJP government. However, the Congress party’s manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, released on April 5, did not mention the scrapping of the CAA.
