WTO recognises Dhordo as ‘World’s Best Tourism village’; PM Modi hails

Dhordo, a nature-filled village in the Gujarat region, has earned a prestigious accolade from the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) for its distinction as the “best tourism village.” This recognition stands as a testament to the village’s abundant cultural heritage and natural splendor, capturing the attention and admiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Reflecting on his own visits to Dhordo in 2009 and 2015, PM Modi expressed his profound delight in witnessing Dhordo’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty being acknowledged on a global platform. He extended his commendation to the resilient people of Kutch, acknowledging their unwavering dedication and tireless efforts that led to this remarkable recognition.

“Absolutely thrilled to see Dhordo in Kutch being celebrated for its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. This honour not only showcases the potential of Indian tourism but also the dedication of the people of Kutch in particular,” PM Modi wrote.

PM Modi’s message also carried a vision for Dhordo’s future, foreseeing the village’s continued radiance and its potential to attract visitors from around the world. His words underscored the enormous prospects of Indian tourism and the invaluable contributions of the local community. In a bid to entice more travelers to discover the marvels of Dhordo, the Prime Minister warmly invited people to share their own cherished memories from previous visits to the village. Situated within the expansive Great Rann of Kutch, Dhordo village in Gujarat has garnered distinction for hosting the annual Rann Utsav. This vibrant cultural festival serves as a vibrant platform to showcase the traditional arts, music, and crafts deeply rooted in the region.
