World Powers ‘Indifferent’ to India-Pakistan Conflict: ICG

The International Crisis Group (ICG), a global think tank, has raised concerns over what it calls the indifference of world powers to the escalating crisis between India and Pakistan.

Rising Risk of Escalation

The ICG warned that the combination of hostile statements, growing public unrest, and military posturing has dangerously increased the chances of a conflict. It noted that, for some time, there was no diplomatic communication between the two nations, which added to the risks.

Western Silence After Pahalgam Killings

In its latest statement, the ICG pointed out that many countries, while previously supporting India’s right to combat terrorism after the brutal killings in Pahalgam, are now choosing silence. It said this reluctance to take a strong stand might stem from a fear of contradicting earlier positions or being distracted by other global crises.

US Vice President Calls for Calm

US Vice President JD Vance addressed the situation on Thursday, stating that the United States wishes to see a “de-escalation” between India and Pakistan. However, he added that the matter is “fundamentally none of our business,” signaling a hands-off approach from Washington.

The ICG has urged global powers to take the situation seriously before it escalates further and becomes harder to manage.
