‘Wave Against BJP In Haryana’: Priyanka Gandhi At Sirsa Road Show

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress General Secretary, led a roadshow in Sirsa to support party candidate Kumari Selja. She was seated on a specially designed vehicle, greeting a large crowd of people who had gathered there. Congress supporters and workers accompanied the roadshow, carrying party flags and posters.

In an interview with ANI, Priyanka Gandhi expressed that there is a growing discontent among the people towards the BJP’s politics in Haryana. She highlighted issues such as high unemployment and inflation, stating that a change is imminent.

During another election rally, Priyanka Gandhi criticized the Prime Minister for not addressing issues like inflation and unemployment. She accused him of diverting attention by discussing unrelated topics such as “Mangalsutra and buffalo theft,” instead of focusing on his government’s actions and plans.

The Sirsa Lok Sabha constituency in Haryana will witness a significant electoral battle on May 25th during the Sixth Phase of elections. This constituency comprises nine legislative assembly segments and is witnessing a major contest between BJP’s Ashok Tanwar and Congress’ Kumari Selja.

Historically, Sirsa has been a Congress stronghold, but the scenario changed in 2014 when the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) won the seat. The BJP, which has never won here, is fielding Ashok Tanwar, who recently switched from the Congress.

In the 2019 elections, BJP’s Sunita Duggal won the seat with 714,351 votes, defeating Congress’ Ashok Tanwar by a margin of 309,918 votes, marking a significant shift in the constituency’s political landscape.

In Haryana, Congress and AAP are fighting in alliance, with Congress contesting nine Lok Sabha seats and AAP contesting one seat from Kurukshetra. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP secured all 10 seats in the state, while in 2014, BJP won 7 seats, INLD won 2, and Congress won 1.
