The Mumbra police have filed charges against the dog’s owner and three other individuals under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The charges include culpable homicide not amounting to murder, death by negligence, negligent conduct with respect to animals, and acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention. Initially, the police had recorded the case as an accidental death, but the severity of the incident and the ensuing investigation led to more serious charges being brought against those involved.
